SFMS Red Devils roll past Pilots, remain unbeaten

The South Fulton Middle School Red Devils remained unbeaten as they defeated the Fulton County Middle School Pilots 42-14 on Thurs., Sept. 17.
South Fulton jumped on the scoreboard early and never looked back, scoring 34 unanswered points in the first quarter.
Evan Mohr got the Red Devils on the board with a safety for a 2-0 lead. Kade Clanton then scored on a 20-yard touchdown run, with Abe Morris adding the two-point conversion to make it 10-0.
Gavin Goldbeck followed with a 44-yard touchdown run, and Clanton added the two-point conversion as South Fulton extended its advantage to 18-0.
Clanton continued the scoring with a 48-yard touchdown run, followed by a two-point conversion from Holden Crabtree, putting the Red Devils ahead 26-0.
Clanton capped the first-quarter scoring with a 9-yard touchdown run, and Crabtree added another two-point conversion to give South Fulton a 34-0 lead.
Fulton County got on the scoreboard in the second quarter to make it 34-8, then added another touchdown in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 34-14.
The Red Devils answered immediately as Clanton returned the ensuing kickoff 65 yards for a touchdown. Crabtree added the two-point conversion, giving South Fulton its final 42-14 advantage.
Clanton led the Red Devils' rushing attack with four carries for 92 yards, while Goldbeck carried four times for 87 yards.
Morris added 24 yards on two carries, while Gavin Adams had 14 yards on two attempts. Jamarriee Eaton finished with three yards on two carries, and Daveon Pettigrew had two carries for minus-5 yards.
Mohr and Crabtree each recorded two tackles, while Noah Hedge led South Fulton with three tackles.
With the victory, South Fulton improves to 6-0 on the season.
The Red Devils will return to action Thurs., Sept. 24 at Dresden, with kickoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
