Clinton’s utility charges reimbursed

by Becky Meadows

The Clinton City Council met in special called session April 8 at City Hall in Clinton to hear from Clinton City Clerk Shannon Payne about information she had gathered when she contacted Utilities, Inc. for an explanation of an extra hourly charge of $36.18 per hour for Billy Nelms, in addition to the $600 monthly fee, as the council had requested.

Payne reported that Utilities, Inc. agreed that the city should not have been billed for the hourly rate and will reimburse the city. Present at the meeting were Mayor Fred Cox, City Clerk Shannon Payne, City Attorney Mary Potter, Chief Tom Dickinson, Council members Alex Thomas, Chad Frizzell, Howard Dillard, Betty Morrow, John Kelly, and Tommy Kimbro.

In the police report, Council member Morrow said that she has received several complaints about a property with numerous chickens, ferrets, and dogs.

Chief Dickinson said that the largest dog has been removed from the property and the fence has been patched.

The council agreed to discuss changes that can be made to the ordinance and make those amendments at the meeting in May.
