The Rotary Club of Clinton and Clinton Bank held their Second Annual Youth Fishing Tournament May 11.

The event was held at Clinton’s Rotary Park and though it was cold and raining, this year’s participants fared much better than those fishing in last year’s heat and humidity.

Glenn Reid, President of Clinton Bank welcomed all the fishers and their families thanking them for their participation and introduced Tom Pyron, President of the Clinton Rotary Club.

Pyron informed the group of Rotary’s purpose and activities, he then led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance and called on Rotarian Phillip McClure to open the event with prayer.

The first place winner of the 5 to 8 year old group was Peyton Workman with a total of 10 fish weighing 63.46 ounces; and the second place winner was Eliza Early with 8 fish weighing 30.86 ounces.

The first place winner of the 9 to 12 year old group was Brec Byassee with a total of 3 fish weighing 20.04 ounces; and the second place winner was Tibbie Early with 4 fish weighing 11.50 ounces.

The first place finisher in each category was awarded $100 and second place $50.

The Rotary Club also sold a hotdog lunch raising money for its many projects. The Rotary Club of Clinton has participated in projects locally, nationally and internationally, including replacing sidewalks in Clinton, providing scholarships to our graduating Seniors and eliminating polio worldwide.
