Banana Festival Photo Contest to begin Sept. 14

Entries will be accepted for this year’s Banana Festival Photo Contest beginning on Sept. 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and continue on Sept. 15, from 1-5 p.m. and Sept. 16, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Fulton’s Pontotoc Community building.

Judging will begin late afternoon Sept. 17, with public viewing of displayed photos available Sept. 17-Sept. 20, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sept. 21, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Winners will be announced the evening of Sept. 17 at 6 p.m. during the Faith and Family night performances on South Fulton’s Unity Park stage.

Entries may be picked up Sept. 21, after 2 p.m. and Sept. 22, from 1-5 p.m.

First, second and third place ribbons will be awarded in the Adult and Youth categories, with a Best of Show ribbon and $75 prize awarded by Judge selection, a People’s Choice Champion and $100 prize awarded through Facebook voting and a Banana Festival Committee Choice, selected by committee members, to be displayed in Fulton’s City Hall for one year..

All photos entered will be uploaded to Facebook for participation in the People’s Choice contest and cash award. The entry with the most “likes” will be the winner.

There is a $5 entry fee per entry, with categories to include Trains, Planes, Automobiles; People; Animals; Elements of Design (Patterns and Forms, Lines, Textures, Perspectives); Digital Dark Room (Photoshop, composites and creations, HDR); Sports; Flowers; Go Bananas!; and Nature/Landscapes.

All entries must be taken within the preceding 12 month period, with up to three photographs per category entered per participant. All entries must include the original digital image on CD/DVD, indicating the date the photo was taken. The CD with the original digital image will become the property of the Banana Festival for archival use.
