SFMS Lady Devils’ softball team 2019 season underway

On Aug. 19, the South Fulton Middle School Lady Devils’ softball team went up against a Gibson County group who took an inning to get into gear, and then ran away with the win.

The Lady Devils took a first inning 4-1 lead during the game, a lead which ended in a 4-4 tie at the end of the second inning.

South Fulton was stalled at 4 in the third, but Gibson increased their runs to total 13 by the end of that inning, as the Lady Devils then added a couple of runs in the fourth, holding Gibson to the 13.

The fifth and final inning of play resulted in four more runs for the SF opponent, with the final score at 17-6 in favor of Gibson.

Maddie Gray was the losing pitcher, striking out two and giving up seven walks.

Gray, Anna Gore and Abbi McFarland were hit leaders, with Gray and Gore recording two RBI’s a piece.

The Lady Red Devils’ took a 5-2 loss at the hands of the Black Oak Lady Eagles Aug. 15, with pitcher Maddie Gray on mound, recording three strike-outs and three walks.

Martin was the winning pitcher for the Lady Eagles, striking out seven at bats for the Lady Devils, and allowing two walks.

For the Lady Devils, Anna Gore, Abbi McFarland and Maddie Gray were top hitters, with McFarland and Gore recording RBI’s.
