Officials appoint Hood to fill remainder of Sanderson’s term

The Obion County Commission appointed Casey Hood of Obion as Interim Sate Repesentative for Tennessee’s 77th District on Sept. 6, succeeding Republican Bill Sanderson, who resigned from that post in July.

The dates have now been set for a special election to fill the spot officially, in a special election Nov. 5. A general election will be held Dec. 19.

The deadline for candidates to qualify is Sept. 26.

Early voting will take place Oct. 16-31 in Obion County for the primary and Nov. 30-Dec. 14 for the general election.

There will be 11 of the 12 Obion County precincts open for the special election, with South Fulton voters not included as that precinct is in the 76th District, represented by Rep. Andy Holt.

The Obion County Commission was given the option of making the temporary appointment, until a successor is elected, as the result of Sanderson residing in Obion County.
