Billy Joe McCoy, a resident of South Fulton, died Sept.17 at his residence. He was 75.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sept. 20 at the Pilot Oak Baptist Church, with Bro. Jimmy Brown and Bro. Terry Lunch officiating. Burial followed in the Pilot Oak Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation was held at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel, in Fulton, from 5 - 8 p.m. Sept. 19. He laid in state at the Pilot Oak Baptist Church from 10 a.m. Sept. 20 until the hour of service. Hornbeak Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Kay Vaughn McCoy; three children, Yolanda Carol (Mike) Davis, of Westmoreland, Tenn., Mark Anthony McCoy, of South Fulton, and Joseph Eric (Bonnie Michelle) McCoy, of South Fulton; a step-daughter Lisa Carol (Mike) Puckett, of South Fulton; a step-son Jackie Thomas (Jennifer Dawn) Boyd, of South Fulton; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; six brothers, Charles McCoy, of Fulton, Jerry (Linda) McCoy, of South Fulton, David (Judy) McCoy, of Union City, Tenn., Sammie McCoy, of Water Valley, Jesse McCoy, of Union City, and Freddie (Linda) McCoy, of Palmetto, Ga.; and two sisters, Julia McCoy Lynch Reynolds, of Ripley, Tenn., and Sara Lou Sanders, of Fulton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred McCoy, Sr and Ava Nell Yates McCoy; a brother, Jimmie McCoy; a sister, Rachel McCoy Vaughn; and a step-brother Fred McCoy, Jr.

Born Oct. 8, 1943 in Fulton, he attended Pilot Oak Baptist Church and had worked for the former Reelfoot Packing Company in Union City, in the maintenance department.

He then retired from Tyson Foods, where he worked in the refrigeration department.

He lived all of his life in this area.
