Fulton County Cross Country participated in the Kentucky High School Athletic Association’s Region 1A Championship Oct. 26, at Benton.

“I am beyond proud of all of our runners Saturday. Our Girls Varsity team finished up a perfect season in the Region going undefeated in Region 1A and claiming the Region 1A Championship trophy Saturday. The Boys Team also qualified for State on Saturday, coming in ranked fifth in the Region and finishing fourth overall. Both the girls and boys have worked unbelievably hard all season and we are looking forward to going to state and doing as much damage as we possibly can,” Fulton County Cross Country Coach Jamie Madding said.

Results from the Region 1A Championship are as follows:

Varsity Boys 5,000 meter run was won by Tomas Duncan, Junior at University Heights with a time of 17:17.12, from a field of 55 competitors.

Fulton County participants include Wesley Brown, ninth grade, 5th place, 19:29.94, earning five points; Daniel Collins, eighth grade, 16th place, 20:25.37, 16 points; Chade Everett, Sophomore, 21st place, 20:56.86, 21 points; Harrison Posey, Junior, 26th place, 21:03.93, 26 points; Jay Sipes, Sophomore, 27th place, 21:23.10, 27 points; Mark Berg, Senior, 33rd place, 22:02.51, 33 points; and Logan Griffiths, eighth grade, 36th place, 22:12.76, 36 points.

Dawson Springs won the Boys Team Scores with 54 points. Scorers points were 8+10+11+12+13 (23+24); and times 0:18 1-5 Split | 20:04 Ave.

Fulton County Boys earned 4th place with 95 points. Scorers points were 5+16+21+26+27 (33+36); with times of 1:53 1-5 Split | 20:39 Avg.

The Varsity Girls 5,000 Meter Run finals were won by Kate Kelley, Junior, at Crittenden County, 21:40.86, and one point, in a field of 53 runners.

Runners from Fulton County included Emma Madding, eighth grade, 2nd place, 22:04.27, two points; McKayden McClure, seventh grade, fourth grade, 23:14.50, 4 points; Marlena Sipes, Senior, 9th place, 24:29.77, eight points; Hannah Varden, eighth grade, 17th place, 26:30.74, 16 points; Callie Coulson, Junior, 18th place, 26:51.06, 17 points; Caylee Slinkard, seventh grade, 49th place, 33:10.36, 46 points; and Taylor Everett, Sophomore, 52nd place, 36:46.48, 49 points.

Fulton County won 1st place in Team Scores with 47 points, scores were 2+4+8+16+17 (46+49); and times of 4:46 1-5 Split | 24:38 Avg.
