The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory from 9 p.m. tonight through 9 p.m. Saturday night, as Kentucky's Ohio River border counties are under Flash Flood Watch.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has geared up for what is expected to be about a 24 hour onslaught of wind and rain over the next two days.

Forecasted are 30 to 40 mile per hour winds with gusts up to 45 miles per hour on Saturday, and possible localized thunderstorms. Highway crews have pre-loaded "Water Over Road" signs and "Road Closed" signs as well as barricades. Flash flooding is a concern and the KYTC reminds motorists to avoid driving through flooded roadways, Remember to Turn Around, Don't Drown. As little as six to 12 inches of moving water may push a vehicle off a roadway.
