FIS B3 INSPIRED TO HONE READING, ENGINEERING SKILLS

February 04, 2020

Fulton Independent School’s B3 students engaged in a hands on activity incorporating Reading and Engineering skills to make paper plate hovercrafts. The inspiration for the activity came from reading New York Times bestselling picture book “Rosie Revere, Engineer” by Andrea Beaty. It’s about a girl named Rosie who dreamed of becoming an engineer one day. Where some people saw rubbish, Rosie Revere saw inspiration. Rosie constructed great inventions from odds and ends. Afraid of failure, she hides them away under her bed. Until a visit from her great-great-aunt Rose, who shows her that a first flop isn’t something to fear—it’s something to celebrate. Students used the engineering process to create hovercraft and tested their creations. B3 Is open to all FIS Student in grades 3-8, Mon. - Thurs. from 3 - 6 p.m. Pictured are Kayden Mouton,Trei Warner, Jamar Martin, Jamal Martin, and Vincent Mons as they create their own hovercrafts from odds and ends.
