Fulton County Lady Pilots still seek first victory

The Fulton County Lady Pilots have shown improvement, but still seek their first win of the season.
During last week’s games, the young squad battled at home before losing to Community Christian Academy, while also losing games against Ballard Memorial and Cairo, Ill.
CCA 45, Lady Pilots 42
In their best game of the season, the Lady Pilots battled with the Lady Warriors to the final buzzer.
Coach Leonard Smith’s girl’s lead by three points, 29-26, at the 4:57 mark of the third quarter, and played to a 33-33 tie going into the final period.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Warriors jumped out to their biggest advantage of the game, 42-34, with 2:40 to play.
The Lady Pilots then went on an 8-to-1 scoring run, cutting the deficit to 43-42 with :33 seconds remaining.
Fulton County had their chance to take the lead, but two missed inside shots, and two free throws, allowed the Lady Warriors to post the win.
Javona Davis led the Lady Pilots with 18 points, followed by DeAyria Kinney 11, TaKyiah McNeal 6, Callie Coulson 5 and Rhiannon Eakes 2.
The loss dropped Fulton County to 0-15 on the season.
BMHS 34, Lady Pilots 18
The Lady Pilots fell behind 20-6 at halftime en route to the 16-point loss.
DeAyria Kinney scored 6 points for Fulton County, followed by TaKyiah McNeal 4, Kamesha Windham 4, Callie Coulson 2 and Rhiannon Eakes 2.
The thorn in the side for the Lady Pilots was Ballard Memorial’s Maddy Calvin, who scored 22 points in the game.
The loss dropped the Lady Pilots to 0-14 on the year.
Cairo 54, Lady Pilots 25
Fulton County led 17-16 at halftime, but a 38-8 scoring run in the second half gave Cairo the win.
The Lady Pilots were hampered by Cairo’s Camrya Mitchell, who scored 23 points in the game, including 17 in the second half run.
DeAyria Kinney led the Lady Pilots with 8, followed by Takyiah McNeal 6, JaVona Davis 6 and Rhiannon Eakes 5.
