FIS students create banner for view at State’s School Board conference

Fifth grade Gifted & Talented students recently created a banner to represent Fulton Independent Schools at the 84th Annual Kentucky School Boards Association Conference scheduled for February at the Galt House in Louisville.
The banner included the conference theme, “Kentucky School Boards: Education in Focus – Vision 20/20” and the school name. The students wanted to include this year’s school theme, “Adventure Awaits” as well. The artwork also symbolized that students may have an area of study that could provide an opportunity for them to embark upon amazing adventures. Whether students loved music, math, science, technology, reading, or any other area that reaching for that educational goal would hopefully open a world of opportunities.
The students worked on the banner for a two week period in the afternoons with the guidance of Reading-Math Interventionist, LeAnna Pritchard.
Moreover, the banner represented the diverse community of learners at Fulton Independent Schools and that each student had an area of study they loved.
Each one chose a subject to represent through a symbol, like a song for the area of music.
The sheet music’s title also correlated with the theme.
The reading book by Dr. Seuss, “Oh the Places You’ll Go!” related back to the vision of reaching an educational goal and where that goal would take them.
