The Hickman County Archery Team has had a busy season since beginning competition in December.
The team practices three days a week and competes on Saturdays at various schools in the area.
There are approximately 25 students in grades 4 – 12 that comprise the school’s team.
Students that have been competing this year are high school students Grahm Carroll, Rhett Dalton, Levi Frizzell, Alyssa Fuller, and Andreus Hunter; middle school students Kera Adams, Cora Clark, James Clark, Landon Cromika, Burke Dalton, Callie Douglas, Kassey Douglas, Abbi Frizzell, Nathan Gallimore, Kylee Harper, Jermaine Johnson, Will Lupton, Allyson Parker, Jaedon Peyton, Cailin Russell, Carter Terry, Ella Terry, Austin Todd, and Dallas Williford; and elementary students Hunter Feezor, and Amber Wheeler.

The National Archery in the Schools Program allows students to compete in divisions based on grade level.
Fourth and fifth grades are the elementary division. Sixth through eighth grades are the middle school division.

Ninth through 12th make the high school division.
Students can compete in both bullseye and 3D tournaments.
In the bullseye competition, archers shoot three ends at 10 meters and three ends at 15 meters for a possible score of 300.
In the 3D competition, archers shoot at six targets—turkey, coyote, bear, antelope, deer, ram—arranged at various distances from 10 to 15 meters for a possible score of 300.
The sport has really grown in the last few years and it is not unusual for archers in the middle and high school division to shoot against 80 or more competitors.
