In the wake of a worldwide pandemic - Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) - and the mandated closings throughout the Commonwealth, Fulton County Transit Authority vehicles remain in service.
“I want everyone in Fulton County, Hickman County, Graves County, Carlisle County and all the other areas we provide service to know that Fulton County Transit Authority is safe,” FCTA Executive Director Kenney Etherton said Monday morning.

“We have upped our game in disinfecting our vehicles,” Etherton added. “Our drivers are adequately supplied with disinfectant supplies. We are here and in business. The emphasis needs to be on safety.”

Last week, governmental officials urged all Americans to practice “social distancing.” This term basically includes avoiding large group gatherings and considering spending as much time as possible in the confines of your own home. Yet there are still times when people need to get out for grocery shopping or medical appointments.

“We are still providing transportation to pick up medicines, visit medical facilities or go to grocery stores to pick up food and other supplies,” Etherton said. “Our vehicles are safe and our drivers are well trained.”
