Fulton Independent Schools recently announced that Mancell Elam will be serving as Principal for the district and Dana Crawford as assistant principal. Elam and Crawford were hired in June and began their duties July 1.

Elam has been an educator for over 18 years recently serving in Hopkinsville. He is a graduate of Murray State University where he also played football. He also holds several master’s degrees in special education, communications, and school administration. Besides teaching, Elam has served as a Behavioral Consultant and an Assistant Principal.

Mr. Elam’s vision for the Fulton School year is to learn by getting into the classrooms to observe daily. He will lead by creating a shared vision for students, staff, and community members. He will set high expectations for the students and staff as well as himself. Under his leadership, FIS will excel to new heights.

Elam is married and has two sons. He enjoys exercising and reading.

Dana Crawford comes to Fulton Independent from Hickman County where she served as a special education teacher. Crawford is a graduate of Mid Continent University and holds a master’s degree in behavior disorders from Western Kentucky University and administration from the University of the Cumberlands.

Crawford is a member of the Kentucky Association of School Administration, Kentucky Education Association, and KDE Assistant Principal Project.

Her goals and vision for this year are to build a climate and culture where students, staff, parents, and community work together to unleash greatness in every child that enters Fulton Independent Schools. We will create an environment where everyone feels welcomed, loved, and valued.

Crawford is married and has two children.

“I am delighted to have Mr. Mancell Elam and Mrs. Dana Crawford as school administrators. They both bring valuable experience and a desire to provide excellent educational opportunities to our students. I have already noticed the positive response from students, parents, and faculty as we begin our school year. I expect great results from their hard work and enthusiasm,” said Dr. Deanna Miller, Superintendent of Fulton Independent Schools.

Students began school Aug. 14.
