Obion Co. Sheriff’s officers to assist South Fulton PD following decrease in staff

According to South Fulton Mayor David Lamb, Obion County Sheriff’s Officers will assist with patrols within South Fulton’s City limits, following a temporary reduction in SFPD officers available, awaiting results for Covid-19 tests taken this week.
Lamb, himself an SRO within the Obion County Sheriff’s Department, confirmed an employee within the SFPD had tested negative for Covid-19, however the spouse of the employee had tested positive.
As a precaution, SFPD personnel tested for the virus, following the spouse visiting the employee.
Lamb said two South Fulton Police Officers, not exposed, will continue to be on duty during the evening hours, with Sheriff’s Department officers within the city to fill in shifts. All 911 calls will continue to be dispatched through the Obion County Sheriff’s Department.
Lamb said he hoped to have results from the SFPD staff tests by the end of the week, and he will be on patrol in South Fulton on Friday.
South Fulton City Manager Johnny Bacon was unavailable for comment, due to a medical procedure taking place on Tuesday.
