So. Fulton MS Devils, Lady Devils overcome Hillcrest

Both South Fulton Middle School basketball teams walked away from Hillcrest with a win under their belt.

South Fulton Lady Red Devils evened out their record at five wins and five losses after defeating the Hillcrest Lady Cougars by a 22-point lead, 39-17.

South Fulton Red Devils continued their win streak for the tenth game in a row, making their record 10-0 after a 43-19 win over the Hillcrest Cougars.

The South Fulton Red Devils and Lady Red Devils were scheduled to host the Black Oak Eagles and Lady Eagles Dec. 7, however due to Covid-19 the game was cancelled.

The Lady Red Devils gained the lead in the first quarter and didn’t slow down. The Lady Red Devils were up 7 points at the end of the first quarter only allowing the Lady Cougars two points. The Cougars started creeping up on the Lady Red Devils in the second half bringing the score 15-12.

The Lady Red Devils jumped ahead scoring 15 points in the third quarter, making the score after three quarters of action 30-14 and finishing the game with a 39-17 win.

Maddie Gray had the nights high of 23 points along with six steals.

Journee Puckett tacked on eight points.

Jenefer Wallace added four points and had seven rebounds, and Reagan Johnson had two points.

The Red Devils gained the lead early in the first quarter and didn’t let up. The Red Devils finished the first half with a lead of 17 points 23-6.

The Red Devils continued fighting and finished the game with 43 points to the Cougar’s 19.

The Red Devils were led by Dallas Whitehead with 13 points along with nine rebounds and four assists.

Dane Cirkles added 11 points and four rebounds.

Brady McFarland contributed eight points, seven rebounds and three assists.

Tucker Stevens had four points, Kaedyn Haynes had three points, Charles Michael Mulcahy two points, and Connor O’Neal two points.
