August 31, 2018

According to a press release issued by the Hickman County Sheriff's office today, a Hickman County man has died as the result of an incident which has been ruled as a farming accident, and the case is closed.

The HCSO, along with the Clinton-Hickman County Fire and Rescue squad responded to the scene of the accident, where Tommy Ward, 48, of Hickman County, according to witnesses at the scene, had been having trouble with the trailer brakes locking on one of his semis.

Once Deputy Johnny Smith spoke with the witnesses, he learned Ward had exited the truck, walking to the rear to inspect the brake problem, when the semi began to roll down a hill. Reportedly, Ward began to attempt to stop the truck, at which time he fell, and the semi ran over him.

Ward was pronounced deceased at the scene, by Hickman County Coroner Paula Boaz.
