SFHS teams beat Dresden

The Red Devils and Lady Red Devils hosted the Greenfield Jackets and Lady Jackets in the Devils Den on Tuesday night, January 19, 2021.

The Lady Red Devils came up short after battling the Lady Jackets. The Lady Red Devils trailed the jackets 6-12 after a quarter of action and went into half time 12-23. The Lady Red Devils didn’t give up tacking on nine points in the third quarter to bring the score to 21-30. The Lady Red Devils couldn’t finish on top, finishing the game with 27 points to the Lady Jackets 43.

The Red Devils tacked on another win to their record against the Jackets. The Red Devils started the game out strong and on top scoring 11 points in the first quarter while holding the Jackets to just nine points. The Red Devils added another 11 points in the second quarter to bring the score to 22-18 at the half. The Red Devils didn’t slow down scoring 13 in the third and 19 in the fourth to make the final score 54-38.

Kailey Mayo hit a three-point basket for three of the Lady Red Devils six first quarter points. Sophia Hodges had a field goal and CaShayah McClerkin tacked on a free throw.

McClerkin tacked on a field goal and a free throw for four of her five game points. Anna Gore hit a field goal to account for two of her five points.

Mayo had four of the Lady Red Devils nine points in the third quarter. Mayo hit a field goal and two free throws. Anna Gore had three points and Sophia Hodges had two points.

Sophia Hodges finished out the game with four points hitting a field goal and two free throws. Aubree Gore had two points coming from a field goal.

Beau Britt hit two field goals for four points. Rider Whitehead hit a field goal and one free throw in the first quarter for three of his eight game points. Brock Brown and Bryce McFarland both tacked on two points during the first quarter.

Brown had nine of the Red Devils 11 points in the second quarter. Brown hit three field goals and three of his four free throws. Whitehead put up an additional two points during the second quarter.

Beau Britt hit two shots from behind the arc, along with a field goal and one of his two free throws, for nine of the Red Devils 13 points in the third quarter. McFarland hit two free throws for both his points in the third quarter. Whitehead tacked on the final two points in the third quarter with a field goal.

Brown finished the game strong hitting three field goals and three of his three free throws for nine of his game high 20 points. Britt finished the game with two field goals and a free throw to bring his game total to 18 points. McFarland and Rodehaver both tacked on two points in the fourth quarter and Whitehead had one.

The Lady Red Devils had a nail-biting competition with the Lady Lions ending in a two-point nightcap. The Lady Red Devils started the game trailing by five points by the end of the first quarter.

The Lady Red Devils scored 17 points in the second quarter while only allowing the Lady Lions to score nine points, to make the score 30-27. After half time the Lady Red Devils kept their three-point lead, both teams scoring nine points to make the score after three quarters of action 39-36. The Lady Red Devils finished on top of the Lady Lions 49-47.

The Red Devils jumped ahead early in the contest putting up 15 points in the first quarter. The Red Devils stayed ahead scoring 13 points, 28-22.

Dresden jumped ahead of the Red Devils to make the score 40-39.

The Red Devils fought back scoring 18 points to put the Devils ahead of 57-48 final score.
