Health Department gives educators first round of COVID vaccinations

According to Pat Frazier, Fulton County Health Department Board member, the Health Department administered Moderna vaccinations to the teachers of Fulton County and Fulton Independent School districts last week, to those who requested the vaccine, their first of two injections.
This week, Frazier said, first responders will be given their second injection, completing Phase 1a for first responders, providing them with 95% protection against COVID.
“We still have had no negative reactions from the vaccine with the exception of slight tenderness at the injection site in the patient’s arm. We feel very positive about this vaccine,” Frazier said.
The Health Department will continue to take information from those who want the vaccine when it arrives, by calling 270-472-1982 or 270-236-2825.
Information needed will include name, age, and telephone number, and if calling as a couple, whether a preference is to come together. The vaccine is given at the time and in the order per the Governor’s order.
“Though there may be inconveniences, we know that help is coming for our residents. Fulton Countians have been very patient, and have adhered to the rules surrounding protection. We, at the Health Department, are very grateful for your cooperation,” Frazier said.
