2018-19 tax rate approved by Hickman Co. Board of Education
The Hickman County Board of Education met August 23 at 7 p.m. in Clinton, as the board held a public hearing on proposed tax rates with discussion for and against approving the proposed tax rate.
A motion to approve setting tax rates for 2018-19 at 59.3 cents on general fund real and personal property, 54.7 cents on motor vehicles and 3% utility tax failed with Allen Kyle voting for and all other board members voting against.
A motion to approve setting tax rates for 2018-19 at the compensating rate plus exonerations at 57.4 cents on general fund real property, 57.8 on personal property, 54.7 cents on motor vehicles and 3% utility tax passed unanimously.
The board approved of all items listed under the Consent Agenda, which included:
• Bond issue principal and interest payments in the amounts of $71,884.77 (2008 Issue), $15,529.67 (2011 KISTA Issue), and $25,001.42 (2016 Refunding Issue) due October 1, 2018.
• Data Security and Breach Notification Best Practice Guide
A motion to approve the Superintendent to provide funding support to the Kentucky School Boards Association (KSBA) up to $231.00 to represent the interests of the board before the Public Service Commission was passed by the board.
Present at the meeting were Superintendent Casey Henderson, Principal Richard Todd, Principal Shane Bizzle, Perry Collins, Jan Johnson, Kim Wilson, board members Allen Kyle, Martie Templeton, Matt Hicks, Thomas Dodson and Shannon Dowdy.
