Fulton County High School’s Future Farmers of America claim awards

April 01, 2021

Agricultural Proficiency Awards honor FFA members who, through Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAE), have developed specialized skills that they can apply toward their future careers.

Nationally, students can compete for awards in nearly 50 areas ranging from agricultural communications to wildlife management. Proficiency awards are also recognized at local and state levels and provide recognition to members that are exploring and becoming established in agricultural career pathways.

Two weeks ago, Fulton County FFA turned in two State Degrees and seven Proficiency Applications.

The State Degrees candidates are Katie Baggett and Blake Edwards.

Turning in their Proficiency Applications were Blake Edwards, Vegetable Production; Hayden Murphy, Diversified Crop Production; Jason Mathews, Swine Production; Katie Baggett, Ag processing; Reagan Ellingburg, Specialty Crop Production; Taylor Gunn, Ag Processing; and Virginia Varden, Goat Production.

Katie Baggett and Jason Mathews both placed first in the Region and will be moving on to be judged at the State level.

These students are all very passionate about their SAEs and have worked extremely hard all year to complete their applications.
