UPDATE FROM GIBSON ELECTRIC REGARDING OUTAGES
This morning's storms have caused outages to about 10,500 Gibson Electric Membership Corporation members’ homes and businesses. The majority of outages are in Lake and Obion counties in Tennessee and in Fulton County in Kentucky, but we have scattered outages throughout our system.
We have at least 30 broken poles and are continuing to survey our damage. TVA, our wholesale power provider, has at least 5 broken poles serving the Woodland Mills substation. With this extensive damage, we will have prolonged outages.
We currently have 82 different outage locations and 4,888 members without power. Crews have been working since the first outages occurred around 3:15 AM and they will restore service as quickly as possible, but members should plan for a lengthy outage.
We have requested and are receiving assistance to help expedite restoration. Southwest Tennessee Electric Cooperative, Pickwick Electric Cooperative and Service Electric crews will be working with us. We appreciate their help and we will provide updates as we have more information to report.
Thank you,
Rita
