Cross receives Honors scholarship

Jalen LaMar Cross, son of DeReka Slayton, and a 2021 graduate of South Fulton High School, has been awarded the Honors Scholarship, for his high school achievements.

Cross plans to attend the University of Tennessee at Martin.

In addition to being the 2021 recipient of the Honors Scholarship, he has been the recipient of the Junior Auxiliary scholarship and the Margaret Lynn Yates Memorial Achievement Award, while maintaining a 3.48 grade point average.

While in high school, he served as Manager of the basketball team and was a team member from his 10th through his 12th grade year.

He is a member of Jacksonville Freewill Baptist Church, where he is a choir member, was a volunteer to assist in distributing food items to the public, and helped with the Easter Egg Hunt for the community.
