A HAPPY ENDING AND A HUNT FOR HELP, TCY ends season, with search underway for volunteers

This summer’s 2021 Twin Cities Youth League T-Ball, Baseball and Softball seasons came to a close last week, as boys and girls received medals for their team efforts on the field. Volunteer coaches Ja’Manda Spencer and Precious Brown joined their team for one last victory celebration, after the medal presentation June 17 at the Fulton City Lions Club Park. Approximately 175 children and youth were served through the program this year. To help in any way as plans are now underway to begin moving ahead with the 2022 summer season, visit the Twin Cities Youth League Facebook page, and leave a private message, or contact Ashley Grissom via email at amgriss@hotmail.com. No experience is necessary to assist with a multitude of duties required to carry out the season, including coordination and overseeing of each age group, ordering uniforms, preparing and maintaining schedules, attending a few district meetings to communicate with other towns, and availability and accessibility to answer questions and deal with operations at the park on game days. “The current board members that have been running the league for years have put in their time and feel it’s time for us to pass the torch and move on,” Grissom said, adding “The program will need parents, family members or willing volunteers who are interested in seeing this program continue for our area. We would like to see others step up and take over.” (Photo by Benita Fuzzell)
