KY 1125/Union Church Road reopened

August 05, 2021

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has reopened a section of KY 1125/Union Church Road in Fulton County.

KY 1125/Union Church Road was closed in early April between KY 94 and KY 166/Middle Road when a culvert was damaged during a round of flash flooding across the region. This culvert on KY 1125 is about 1/4th mile south of KY 94.

The roadway was initially expected to be closed for a few weeks. However, the existing culvert was damaged beyond repair and a traditional steel culvert of appropriate size was unavailable. KYTC District 1 engineers ordered a pre-fab aluminum arch culvert for the site. Installation of that arch is now complete and the roadway is open.

The excavation site has a temporary covering. Motorists should be aware that the excavation site will be allowed to settle for several months before a permanent asphalt cap is placed over the new culvert.
