KIDS FUN DAY AT FULTON AIRPORT, BANANA FESTIVAL EVENT THIS SATURDAY

Kids' Fun Day at Fulton Airport returns for this year's Banana Festival, after a successful debut in 2019. Gates will open Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. with activities scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. At 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12 noon and 1:30 p.m., Para-Gliders will stage an air show for spectators, and at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., Parachute Jumpers will take to the skies for a show. Flight simulators will be available for children to experience the feel of flight from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., as well as the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church "Kid Zone" and Kids' Bouncy House. Static Aircraft Display, Airplane and Helicopter tours, will be on site, with helicopter rides over Fulton available for $20 per person, cash only. Refreshments will be available for purchase from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. All other activities at the Airport are free to those who attend. A college recruiter from Southern Illinois University will be available to discuss options for a career in aviation, and the Civil Air Patrol will be on hand to offer information about their organization and how to join. A powered parachute demonstration, drone demonstration and a remote live broadcast by radio station Rock 98.3 will round out the events. All activities will be staged, weather permitting.
