Coordinated by the Fulton Police Department and held at the FPD Shooting Range on Park Road in Fulton, this year's Banana Festival Pistol and Turkey Shoot is Sat., Sept. 11, beginning at 8 a.m. A $20 registration fee per class per level is required, with trophies, door prizes, cash and other top awards to be presented. Weapons, ammo, ear and eye protection and holster must be furnished by participants. Ammo must be factory loaded with hand loaded ammo and alcohol prohibited on site. Firearms allowed for competition include .38/.357 with 3.8 ammo; 9 MM; .40 caliber/.45 automatic; and no single action revolvers will be allowed to compete. Handguns are subject to inspection, with two spare magazines or speed loaders required. Categories include the Novice Class to begin at 9 a.m.; Twenty-two Class at 9:30 a.m.; Expert Class at 10:30 a.m. followed by a break for lunch from 12 noon to 1 p.m. The Master Class begins at 1 p.m., Female Class at 2 p.m., Top Gun at 2:30 p.m. and Turkey Shoot at 3 p.m. Registration forms and fees will be accepted up to one hour prior to shooting time, and forms may be obtained at the Fulton Police Department, 340 Browder St. in Fulton; call the FPD at 270-472-3141; or visit the website at www.thebananafestival.com.
