Fulton Police investigate alleged daycare assault
According o a press release issued by the Fulton Police Department earlier today, the department is conducting an active investigation into an allegation of an assault that occurred at the First Baptist Church Daycare facility, located on Second Street in Fulton.
The investigation involves a juvenile victim and is still an active investigation, according to the FPD press release. Also involved in the investigation is the Department of Families and Children Division of Protection and Permanency.
All findings in the investigation, the release goes on to say, will be referred to the Fulton County Attorney and the Commonwealth Attorney for the First District of Kentucky, for their review as the conclusion of the investigation.
When contacted by The Current, Curtis Hancock, speaking on behalf of the Deacons of First Baptist Church, read a prepared statement.
"We are aware of an ongoing investigation regarding the daycare," he said, noting the Deacons and the Liaison Committee of the church had met on Saturday to discuss the information made available to them by the authorities.
Hancock expressed the intention of the church Deacons and Committee to continue to cooperate with authorities in their investigation, and indicated the daycare facility is still operating.
"We ask our church family to refrain from speculation and gossip, and that we pray for all parties involved, as well as that the truth will be made known, and that the Lord will be glorified," Hancock said.
