South Fulton City Manager treated for snake bite
South Fulton City Manager Jeff Gabbert is recovering from a snake bite, which he received as he was walking into the public works entrance of South Fulton Municipal Complex Monday morning.
According to city staff, Gabbert had dropped his keys in an area on the walkway into the entrance, which also includes some small shrubs.
When he bent down to retrieve his keys, the snake latched on to his hand, with Gabbert attempting to sling the snake from his hand.
He was taken to receive medical assistance, and was to stay overnight for observation and treatment of the wound, which, according to Gabbert’s wife, Jackie, was “painful” and “swelling continued” as consultation with a surgeon was to take place on Tuesday morning.
As to the species of the snake, Copperhead and Cottonmouth were thought to be two possible species, however the snake could not be located by city staff after it was dislodged from Gabbert’s hand.
