ArEA OBITUARIES -- “BUZZ” BLINCOE
On Dec. 9, 2021 Don Walker (Buzz) left this earth for his eternal home.
He was born on July 20, 1938 to the late John and Elizabeth Blincoe. His siblings are Kenneth Blincoe (Yvonne), of Mayfield, both deceased, Joe Blincoe (Julia deceased), of Dallas, Texas, Bob (Donna) Blincoe of Destin, Fla. and David (Sue) Blincoe of Union City, Tenn.
He graduated from Hickman HS in 1956. He joined the US Army in 1960 and was stationed in Germany. After his tour of duty, he returned home to his beloved Hickman. He spent many years traveling and working on pipeline construction.
He was a devoted son to his mother during her illness and was her primary caregiver until her death. He was a favorite uncle to his nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. All of whom have great memories of Uncle Buzz. He was a very special uncle.
He was a well known and beloved member of the Hickman community. He served on the Library Board, was awarded the Admirable Admiral of the Mighty Mississippi River by the city of Hickman, and received the Kentucky Governor’s Citation for his volunteerism and outstanding service to the city of Hickman.
He was a member of the American Legion and was instrumental in placing the flags on Veterans’ grave every Memorial Day. Buzz was commended by the Kentucky Heritage Council for his heroic work in the restoration of tombstones in the Hickman City Cemetery. He was an active community volunteer to his beloved hometown. He will be missed and joyfully remembered by all who knew him.
Funeral services were held at Strong Funeral Home Dec. 13 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Robert (Bob) Blincoe officiating. Burial followed with military rites in Hickman City Cemetery. Pallbearers were James Coffey, Hal Coffey, Paul Duncan, Jimmie Bobbitt, David Gallagher, Harry Poynor, Robbie Blincoe and Charles Choate.
Visitation was held from 12 noon until the hour of service.
