Because of an abundance of pet food donations to the Mayfield-Graves County and Cayce area following the Dec. 10 tornados, Fulton Pound volunteer coordinator Darcy Linn has several bags of dog and cat food to give away this Friday.

Linn said David Spaulding, Director of the Mayfield-Graves County Animal Shelter, the facility received huge truckloads of pet food from numerous sources, and he contacted her about potential needs in the Twin Cities.

“David’s staff is always helpful and easy to work with. We have helped each other with rescue animals and finding homes for them, between our pound and his shelter, before. He said they had tons and tons donated,” Linn said.

In addition to bags of dog food and cat food, Linn said there will be some small kennels which will be available to give-away to those in need.

The pet food give-away will take place Dec. 31, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fulton Pound, located at 260 Park Road in Fulton.

Linn indicated if weather permits, volunteers may be able to load vehicles with the pet food and participants drive through the location.
