“Cloudette, a small cloud, teaches a big lesson to Jessica McCormick’s Carr Elementary second grade class in Fulton.

Students read a story about “Cloudette.” the smallest cloud in the sky.

In the store, Little Cloudette felt very insignificant until one day, she discovered that if she held her breath, she could affect the weather, depending upon which type of cloud she chose to be.

Ms. McCormick’s students were each given a cotton ball to create a cloud of their choosing. Eagerly, each student shared why they chose their favorite cloud. The cumulus cloud was the group’s favorite because of the many beautiful shapes and designs that can be found in the sky.

In the end, while each student enjoyed the project, they all understood the purpose of the story, and that was to teach a lesson to “Be proud of yourself; Never give up; Whatever you do, don’t give up; I can keep trying.”

Students in each grade in the Fulton Independent School District work to master the KAS, Kentucky

Academic Standards for each grade, with Second Grade student to become more independent readers and writers as they learn more skills.
