US HWY. 45 NORTH COLLISION INVOLVES SOUTH FULTON MAN

On February 15, 2022, at approximately 1:20 PM, Graves County Sheriff's Department deputies were dispatched to a two-vehicle-injury collision on US 45 North at the intersection of KY 1241, just north of Mayfield.
Deputy Zac Smith’s investigation revealed that Mitchell R. Mitchum, 28 of South Fulton, TN, was northbound on US 45 North approaching KY 1241. Mitchum was operating a 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
At the same time, Brenda Guardian, 25 of Mayfield, was stopped at the stop sign on KY 1241 at US 45 North.
Guardian was operating a 2006 Nissan SUV. Guardian proceeded across US 45 North in order to turn
left and travel southbound on US 45 North. Guardian pulled into the path of Mitchum, causing
Mitchum’s motorcycle to collide with the driver’s side of Guardian’s vehicle.
Mitchum was thrown from his motorcycle, over Guardian’s vehicle and landed in the median of US 45 North.
Mitchum was transported to Baptist Hospital Paducah for treatment of his injuries. Guardian was not
injured. Gradian was wearing a seat belt and Mitchum was wearing a helmet.
Deputy Smith was assisted at the scene by Deputy John Cavin, Chief Deputy Jeremy Prince, Detective
Snapper Seaton, Detective Jamie Clark, the Mayfield Fire Department, Mayfield/Graves County EMS, the
Mayfield / Graves County Fire & Rescue and Graves County Emergency Management.
