Empty Bowls

“Empty Bowls” will be staged on March 15 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Fulton’s Pontotoc Community Center, with proceeds to benefit the Ken-Tenn FoodBank. Tickets are $15, in advance or at the door, dine in or take out. A variety of soups, breads and desserts, as well the choice of a one-of-a-kind hand crafted bowl, provided by Dr. David McBeth and his students at the University of Tennessee at Martin, will be provided with admission. Those who would like to assist with the event by providing a crockpot of soup, bread or dessert may call or text, to 270-627-1323. Empty Bowls supports food-related charitable organizations around the world, and has raised millions of dollars to help end hunger.

Miss Spring Fling

The South Fulton Elementary Parent-Teacher Corporation, PTC will sponsor a Miss Spring Fling pageant March 19, beginning at 10 a.m. in the South Fulton High School Gymnasium, open to all girls in each age division, not limited to South Fulton school students. Doors open at 9 a.m. Non-contestants will be charged $5 admission price, with spectators age 5 and under, admitted free. Pageant participation, registration and payment at the door is $45. One Queen, three Alternates and side awards will be awarded in each age division, from birth through age 18, with the first pageant beginning at 10 a.m. and the oldest division, scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. Queens of each age divisions will be eligible to compete in the West Tennessee Strawberry Festival Pageant.

Local Planning Committee

Fulton County Schools Local Planning Committee will meet March 14 at 6 p.m., at the Fulton County Board Office, 2780 Moscow Avenue, in Hickman.

Foodbank Dates

The Ken-Tenn Foodbank, 212 Carr St., Fulton, will distribute commodities to Fulton County Seniors, CSFP, living in poverty, will be held March 18 from 9-11 a.m. Distribution to Fulton County households living in poverty, TEFAP, will be March 25 from 9 – 11 a.m. The monthly maximum income for one person in a household is $1,986; two people in a household, $2,686; three people in a household, $3,386; and four people in a household, $4,086.

SOS Special Event

Smiles on Seniors, SOS, will host a special Dutch treat event for all area seniors, age 55 and up, March 24 at 5:30 p.m. at Vaughn’s Grill in Fulton. All seniors, ages 55 and older, are invited.

Breakfast Buddies

The Smiles on Seniors Breakfast Buddies meet the third Wednesday of every month at 9:30 a.m. at the Buttercup Bistro in Fulton. All area seniors, ages 55 and older are invited to meet for the Dutch Treat breakfast.

Celebrate Recovery

The First United Methodist Church, 200 Carr St., Fulton, hosts Celebrate Recovery each Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. Dinner is served, worship and small groups are available.
