RETIRED TEACHERS UPDATED BY KRTA DEPUTY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR DURING MARCH MEETING

March 24, 2022

Greg Roush, Deputy Executive Director of the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association, addressed local retired educators March 23, for the Fulton County Retired Teachers Association, at the Keg Restaurant in Fulton. Roush provided those present, retired from Fulton Independent and/or Fulton County Schools, with information regarding pertinent legislative priorities concerning funding of the Teachers' Retirement System, as well as the defined benefit system currently in place for Kentucky's retired, current and future teachers.

Roush guided attendees through graphs and data representing how the cost for retiree healthcare has been shared from 2006 to the present, premiums held constant for two decades, a breakdown of the economic impact of pension benefits by the state's congressional districts, and the importance of investment income maintained by the KRTA.

Roush, on behalf of KRTA, presented Cayce retired teacher Larry Gardner with a donation from his organization, to assist tornado victims across the state, and Roush was presented with an originally designed, hand painted brick, from the former Cayce School, created by Fulton County retired educator Susan Caldwell Black.

During the business portion of the meeting, minutes were read by Letha Barnes and the financial report was provided by Billy Milner.

Those in attendance then enjoyed lunch together, in the Keg's private dining room.
