KY 1125 Bayou De Chien Bridge in Fulton County Closed Until Monday, April 25
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has closed a section of KY 1125 at mile point 1.3 in Fulton County.
On Tuesday, the KY 1125 Little Bayou de Chien Bridge was restricted to one-lane traffic with a 22-ton maximum load limit after KYTC inspectors determined timber pilings supporting the bridge had deteriorated significantly since their last regularly scheduled safety check.
The KYTC District 1 Bridge Crew was able to move to the bridge to start repairs more quickly than expected. Several of the damaged timber pilings were sectioned and encased in concrete to strengthen the bridge support structure. That work has been completed. However, the required repairs were more extensive than expected. To allow concrete used in the repair process to properly cure, the bridge will have to remain closed through the weekend.
The bridge is expected to reopen to traffic with the existing 22-ton load limit sometime Monday morning.
The Little Bayou de Chien Bridge is along KY 1125 near Union Church Road about halfway between KY 94 and KY 166/Middle Road.
