National Fishing and Boating Week is designed to introduce people of all ages to the sport of fishing. To celebrate

National Fishing and Boating Week, Reelfoot National Wildlife Refuge is hosting its 30th Annual Youth Fishing

Rodeo on Saturday, June 11th, 2022. The fishing rodeo will be held at the ponds near the refuge headquarters

at Walnut Log on Highway 157, one mile off of Highway 22. The fishing rodeo is open to kids 12 years old and

younger. Registration will begin at 7:00 a.m. and will last until noon. Please bring your own fishing pole. Only

live bait will be allowed. Door prizes, donated by local sponsors, will be given away to all participants during the

rodeo. Hotdogs, hamburgers, chips, cookies and drinks will be provided at no cost while supplies last. The staff

of West Tennessee Refuges invites you to join us for a day full of family fun. For additional information

The U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service is the principal Federal agency responsible for conserving, protecting, and

enhancing fish, wildlife, and plants and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people. The

National Wildlife Refuge System is dedicated entirely to the conservation of wildlife and provides habitat for more

than 700 species of birds, more than 200 species of fish, and nearly 500 other animal species including 250

threatened and endangered plants and animals. Reelfoot National Wildlife Refuge is one of over 560 refuges in

the National Wildlife Refuge System that includes over 150 million acres managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife

Service. Reelfoot National Wildlife Refuge provides essential habitat for hundreds of thousands of waterfowl, as

well as other birds, during each winter migration. The refuge also provides year-around habitat to many other

species of wildlife and plants.
