Batters up June 3; 2022 Railroaders roll in to ‘The Yard’
The Fulton Railroaders, a member of the Ohio Valley Summer Collegiate Baseball League, who call Fulton’s Lohaus Field, “The Yard”, home, arrived in town on May 30, and were greeted by the Railroaders’ owners as well as returning Head Coach Scott Guymon.
Guymon begins his fourth season, third as Head Coach, with the team and will be assisted this year by Pitching Coach Brad Weber and Assistant Coach Pedro Carranza.
Guymon brings 23 years of coaching experience to the Railroaders program, nine of those year in the college ranks. He was pitching coach at Jackson’s Union University, Lambuth University in Jackson and Jackson State Community College. He is currently the Head Coach at West Carroll High School in Atwood, Tenn.
Weber is a former Railroader, part of the 2019 roster, having played at Frostburg State University, Chesapeake College, Union University and Oakland City University.
Carranza has coached baseball for almost 25 years, one year in college and 23 years at the high school level. As a player, he competed at Azusa Pacific University, was an All American in 1993 and played five years of professional baseball in the Rockies minor league system and the Mexican League. He resides in southern California.
On June 1, at 6 p.m. the Railroaders coaches, team members and owners invite the public to an inter-squad scrimmage, at The Yard. During that time, four innings will be played, then team members will take time to meet and great spectators, followed by four more innings of play. There is no admission charge to attend and concessions will be available for purchase.
On June 2, the Railroaders take a road trip to Paducah, but then return to Fulton on June 3 for their first home game of the 2022 season, against Hopkinsville, at 7:05 p.m. General admission tickets are $5 per person.
