TWIN CITIES CHAMBER OF COMMERCE DIRECTOR'S POSITION VACANT; CHAMBER BOARD TO MOVE FORWARD WITH PLANNED EVENTS

Following action taken by the Twin Cities of Fulton, Ky. and South Fulton, Tenn. Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors last week, Executive Director, Thea Vowell was removed from her position, effective immediately. Vowell was not present for the meeting.

The Chamber Office, located inside the South Fulton Municipal Complex is closed until further notice, with calls made to the Chamber telephone number to be forwarded for monitoring by Chamber Board member Sherry Cook-Pyatt, and emails to the Chamber to be checked daily. Board member Joyce Gray is to also assist in the day-to-day operations of the Chamber office until a replacement is hired.

Chamber President Harrison Hawks confirmed the annual Chamber Golf Tournament is still scheduled for Oct. 7, at Fulton Country Club, with team registration still available.

Following the tournament, Hawks said, and the meeting minutes reflected, the Chamber Board is to convene for discussion of the Executive Director's job description, to precede the search for a replacement , as well as annual Chamber events such as the Ladies' Night activities scheduled for Nov. 11-12.

According to minutes of the Board's meeting Sept. 29, board members present included Chamber President Harrison Hawks, Chad Coffman, Shelby Dallas, Amanda Morris, Lisa Pruitt, Sherry Cook-Pyatt, Darcy Linn, Joyce Gray and Sharye Hendrix. On a motion by Gray, seconded by Cook-Pyatt, to remove Twin Cities Chamber Executive Director Thea Vowell of her duties, Coffman, Morris, Pruitt, Linn, Hendrix, Gray and Pyatt voted yes, with Dallas voting no. Hawks' vote was only required in the event of a tie.
