Paul Blaylock to celebrate 100 years with party Oct. 30

A South Fulton resident and former South Fulton Mayor, Paul Blaylock, will celebrate 100 years of life on Sun., Oct. 30, with a "Come & Go" birthday celebration from 2-5 p.m. in the Harvey Vick Community Room located inside the South Fulton Municipal Complex. The public is invited to attend.

Many residents of the Twin Cities may know Mr. Blaylock for his huge smile, his endless energy, and his love for his favorite place to go, Wendy's in Fulton.

Mr. Blaylock served in the United States Army, as a T/4 radio operator during World War II. His job was to monitor the bomb group's frequencies for changes to the flight plan, and to enable the pilot to broadcast to other planes in the area. More than once, he was credited and awarded honors for saving the lives of his fellow soldiers, including the "Purple Heart".

Mr. Blaylock's wife, the late Ruth Blaylock was, a longtime math teacher at South Fulton High School who also provided tutoring for many students.

The couple had one son, Dr. P.D. (Paul Douglas) Blaylock, formerly of South Fulton and now a longtime resident of Portland, Oregon.

Paul Blaylock has resided at Park Terrace Village in South Fulton for many years.
