AREA OBITUARIES -- FAYE W. UPTON

Faye W. Upton of Fulton passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at the home of her daughter, Sharon Bryd of Fulton.

Born Eva Faye Williamson in Fulton County, Ky. in July 1929, she was the daughter of James and Myrtle Williamson. She graduated from Cayce High School at the age of 16.

Faye married Guy Upton, Jr. in October 1947 at Union Church, and they were married for 70 years.

In 1963, they purchased Fulton Hardware and Furniture Company on Lake Street in Fulton, where they worked together daily. In later years, they opened Fulton Furniture Company on Walnut Street, and they remained in business until they retired in their 80’s.

Faye was a lifelong member of Union Church, where she served as the church Treasurer. She was also a member and officer of the Fulton Gideon’s Auxiliary Camp for many years, serving alongside Guy, who was active in the Gideons ministry.

Faye is survived by two daughters: Sharon (Gene) Byrd of Fulton, and Gaye Haynes (Pablo Sanchez) of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, as well as a close nephew, Johnny (Ann) Morrow of Martin, Tenn.

She is also survived by four grandchildren: Nicholas (Kayla) Haynes of Paducah, Ky., Jaye Ellen Haynes of Nashville, Tenn., Jenna (Jared) Lynch of Mayfield, Ky., and Kevin (Laura) Byrd of Hickman County, Ky.; and six great-grandchildren: Charley Faye Haynes, Dawson Haynes, and Gavin Haynes of Paducah, Jake Tucker of Mayfield, and Emily Cochran and Jocelyn Byrd of Hickman County.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, December 30, 2022 in the funeral chapel of Hornbeak Funeral Home of Fulton with burial to follow in the Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 AM Friday, December 30 until the hour of service.
