COMPLETE LOSS – A structure fire just outside the city limits of Fulton March 28, thought to have originated with a vehicle parked in the carport of the home, was a total loss for the property owners, as approximately 25 firefighters from four fire departments battled the blaze for three hours from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. According to Fulton Fire Chief Terry Rudolph, a neighbor first called in the fire, and as the Fulton Fire Department maintains a mutual aid agreement with the Cayce Volunteer Fire Department, the FFD was the first to arrive on the scene, to find the vehicle in the carport, the carport area and a storage area adjacent to the carport in flames, reaching above the roof of the house. As the FFD relies on the use of fire hydrants for water supply, and the area of the fire, in the vicinity of the Fulton Airport, is outside the city limits, no hydrant supply was available, with that department only able to supply approximately 750 gallons to the scene until a tanker truck from the Cayce VFD arrived on site. Assisting as well on the scene, to control the fire in 12-15 mile per hour winds, were the Water Valley Volunteer Fire Department firefighters and the South Fulton Fire Department firefighters. According to Rudolph, the family was at home at the time of the fire, but there were no injuries. (Photos submitted)
