South Fulton Middle School Red Devils stand at 1-1 two games in to the 2022 football season after hosting Lake Road Generals Aug. 25.
Lake Road took the win, 26-14.
The Generals were the first to find their way to the end zone in the first quarter at the Red Devils’ home field, making good on the two point conversion for an 8-0 lead.
Red Devil Lejend Everett answered back, in the first, with a three yard run, but the two point conversion was no good.
Lake Road tacked on another TD in the first quarter, to end the quarter with a 14-6 lead.
South Fulton’s Jesse Davis capitalized on a fumble recover and took the ball in the necessary five yards to the end zone, with Trevor Stunson making good on the extra two, setting up a tied ballgame in the second quarter, 14-14.
But, an additional Lake Road TD before the second quarter ended, as well as one more in the fourth quarter, sealed the deal for the visitors, for Lake Road’s 26-14 win.
SFMS Quarterback Grant Joyner was one for two completions, with Mason Parrish connecting one one of those tosses.
Red Devil Trevor Stunson was 8 for 103 yards in rushing, with team mate Lejend Everett 7 for 19, and Parrish, 5 for 6.
Defensively, Everett led his team with 12, followed by Stunson with 6, Hunter Stonecipher with 5 and Parrish with 4.
South Fulton’s Middle School Red Devils are scheduled to host Ballard Sept. 1 at 6:30 p.m. at South Fulton’s field.
