Devils beat Bombers 32-8

In their second game of the 2022 season, the first home game as well as the first to complete in regulation, South Fulton High School’s Red Devils defeated Ballard Bombers 32-8.

Red Devil play caller Brady McFarland was good on nine of 17 passes, for a total of 202 yards on the night. On the receiving end of those connections were Dane Cirkles, three catches for 102 yards; Conner Allen, two for 71 yards; Jonathan Doss, 1 for 30 yards and Dallas Whitehead, 3 for -1 yard.

Ballard’s Jerrico Wilson was good for 8 receptions, 53 yards total, to lead the Bombers.

In rushing, Whitehead carried 12 times for 66 total yards, with Red Devil Josh McKnight, in 6 carries mounting up 36 yards, Bryant Kimmons, 2 carries for 14 yards and Will Clapper pulling out 4 yards on his carry. McFarland held on to the ball 8 times for 67 yards rushing.

Dane Cirkles was first to score on a 64 yard pass from McFarland, early in the first quarter, and the two point conversion missed the mark.

In the second quarter, it was Will Clapper who ran into the end zone from four yards out, and for the second time, the two point conversion was no good. The score at the end of first quarter action was 12-0.

After the half, McFarland found Conner Allen on a 48 yard pass, and this time, Dallas Whitehead added the two point conversion, for a 20-0 lead.

In the fourth, Whitehead rushed in on a two yard run, hiking the Devils score to 26 when the two point attempt was no good, but McFarland himself held on to the ball in the fourth quarter, the final score for the Red Devils, running 40 yards into the end zone, bringing up the gap to 32-0, South Fulton.

Ballard scored only once, in the fourth quarter of play, on a Jerrico Wilson 59 yard run, and an extra two for the conversion.

Conner Lawrence, Bryant Kimmons, Zack Hannon and Will Clapper each had 6 tackles to their credit, with Conner ONeal, Jacob Nagel and Luke Morris adding in 4 each, Tim Davis, Harley Nagel and Joseph Mathias, 3 a piece, Conner Allen and Jonathan Doss, 2 each, Braden, 2.5, and Brady McFarland, 1

South Fulton accumulated 389 total offensive yards to the visitors’ 211, with the Red Devils tallying 187 yards in 29 carries and the Bombers recording 136 yards in 35 carries..

McFarland had nine completions out of 17 attempts, with no interceptions on the night. Ballard, on the other hand had three interceptions, with 10 completions out of 22 attempts from the QB.

In first downs, South Fulton had 15, Ballard, 10.
