SFHS Girls basketball, Golf team awards presented

South Fulton High School Golf and Girls’ Basketball teams held their annual Awards Banquet April 17 in the SFHS cafeteria.

Girls’ Basketball Coach Curt Lee praised the achievements of the 2023-2024 team members, for their efforts in advancing to state tournament play, as well as their accomplishments in the classroom. He also expressed his appreciation to Assistant Coaches Kenneth Irvine and Kasie McClanahan.

Academic accolades were presented to team members achieving a grade point average of 3.0 or above; Caroline Barclay, 4.0; Journee Puckett, 4.0; Jadyn Rushing, 4.0; Abbi McFarland, 4.0; Aubree Gore, 4.0; Anna Gore, 4.0; Maddie Gray, 4.0; Addysen Wilson, 3.8; Katie Barclay, 3.7; and Reagan Johnson, 3.5.

Chevrons for Letter Jackets were earned based on minutes of play time, by Aubree Gore, Anna Gore, Maddie Gray, Reagan Johnson, Addysen Wilson, Katie Barclay, Journee Puckett, Abbi McFarland and Caroline Barclay.

Team awards were presented to Abbi McFarland, Academic Award and Best Free Throw Percentage; Maddie Gray, Best Offensive Player, Most Steals, Most Rebounds, Best 3 Point Percentage; Katie Barclay, Most Improved Offensive Player; Aubree Gore, Best Defensive Player, Most Assists, 110% Award; Anna Gore, Most Improved Defensive Player, Best 2 Point Percentage; Addysen Wilson, Most Improved Rebounder.

All District Team members included Abbi McFarland, Aubree Gore, Anna Gore and Maddie Gray.

All District Tournament Defensive Team members included Aubree Gore and Anna Gore.

All Academic, All District Team members included Abbi McFarland, Addysen Wilson, Anna Gore, Aubree Gore and Katie Barclay.

All Tournament Team members were Aubree Gore and Maddie Gray.

All Tournament Regional Team members were Abbi McFarland, Anna Gore and Maddie Gray.

All State Team member was Maddie Gray.

Golf Coach Kevin Seymour introduced members of the 2023-24 Golf Team and then presented Team Awards.

He recognized Jackson Barnes as the award recipient for Lowest Average, at 91, then advancing to the District level of play and on to Regionals, with a 90.

The Come Back Kid Award was presented to Gibson Horner, with the second lowest boys’ score average.

Golf Team member Daniel Pitts was presented the Leadership Award.

The MVP Award was presented to Maddie Gray, with a season average of 77; advancing to the District level of play, with a 75; Regional level of play tie, with a 79; and tied for 7th place in the State Golf Tournament.
