AREA OBITUARIES -- CLYDE EUGENE STUNSON, SR.

Clyde Eugene Stunson, Sr., age 76, of Fulton, Ky. passed away Thursday, July 13, 2023 at his residence.
He was born in Ypsilanti, MI on March 12, 1947 to the late Clyde Stunson and Bernice Roach Stunson. From that
union, Clyde is survived by his three siblings, Charles Dorsey Stunson, Sr. (Tressa), June Kaye Sunson Hockett (Emerson, deceased) and Dierdre Stunson Thorton (Donald).
Clyde spent his formative years in South Fulton, Tenn. and Fulton, Ky. and was educated at segregated Rosenwald Elementary, then later South Fulton High School before metriculating at Murray State University.
In 1966, Clyde was drafted into the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War, spending most of his time in Turkey. He received an honorable discharge in 1969 and returned to the area to complete his education at Murray State University where he obtained BS and MBA degrees. He was the first in his family to obtain a college degree and served as an incredible role model for his siblings. While in college he spent his summers working with his dad in the construction business where he developed a fondness building things and honed his skills.
Clyde married DaFayne Antoinette Rogers and from that union he is survived by two children, Kelly Nicole Stunson Ealy and Clyde Eugene Stunson, Jr; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and another due in November 2023.
Clyde began his professional career in academia serving as a Resident Assistant and Dean of Student Affairs at MSU.
His work with Corning Glass began in 1979 where he earned promotions to several Director level positions. While in New York, he was a School Board member. He also lived in Pennsylvania, Virginia and North Carolina where he was also civically active. He continued pursuits by becoming a member of the Fulton City Planning and Zoning Committee when he returned to Kentucky.
Clyde loved spending time with family and was an avid golfer. He spent his retirement years working on home projects, volunteering at the food bank and visiting with family and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wed., July 26, 2023 in the Hornbeak Funeral Home of Fulton funeral chapel. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2023 until the hour of service.
