SFHS LADY DEVILS MOVING ON TO STATE! SFHS LADY DEVILS MOVING ON TO STATE!

South Fulton High School Lady Red Devils' Softball Team defeated Middle College High School in Memphis this afternoon, 15-0, scoring 2 runs in the first inning, 9 in the second, 3 in the third and 1 in the fourth inning of play.

Caroline Barclay was on the mound for four innings, striking out 7 batters and giving up 2 hits.

Lady Devils Anna Gore, Aubree Gore, Maddie Gray, Abbi McFarland, Piper Lusk, Ivy Morris and Hadley Barnes all scored 2 runs each, and Lexie Lee scored 1.

#2 Gore and Abbi McFarland were 3 for 4 at bat, Gray and Hadley Barnes, 2 for 3, and Piper Lusk was 2 for 4. Ivy Morris, Lexie Lee, Caroline Barclay and #3 Gore all had a hit to their credit. Lee had 3 RBIs, and #2 Gore and Gray had 2 each.

Middle College High's Boles, a center fielder was 2 for 2 at bat. Payrle pitched four innings, giving up 16 hits and 15 runs.

The next stop for SFHS will be at the state tournament, where the Lady Devils and Coach Curt Lee, set to retire at the end of this school year, will stage a repeat of the SFHS Lady Devils' basketball team appearance at the state level to end their season.

The Lady Devils begin play at the state level in the TSSAA Class 1A Girls State Softball Tournament at 2 p.m. May 21 against Oliver Springs. The winner of that game will compete against the winner of the May 21 game pitting Jo Byrns against Hollow Rock-Bruceton, for a May 22, 11 a.m. game.
