South Fulton Middle School Lady Red Devils defeat Hillcrest, fall to Dresden

The South Fulton Middle School Lady Devils defeated Hillcrest Thurs., Aug. 14, but suffered their first loss of the season to the Dresden Middle School Lions Mon., Aug. 18.
The Lady Red Devils are now 3-1 on the season.

The Lady Red Devils struggled against the Dresden Lions Mon., Aug. 18, only able to muster one hit and not scoring a run, while giving up 10 hits and 14 runs.
Emma Hamrick tallied the Lady Red Devils’ lone hit, and four Lady Red Devils were left on base.
Brooklyn Darden started on the mound for the Lady Red Devils, throwing 49 pitches in two innings of action, with 29 of those being strikes. She was relieved by Jentry Burke, who threw 28 pitches and seven strikes and Oliva Morehead thew five pitches and three strikes.

The Lady Red Devils trailed early, then tied the score up at 2 in the top of the fourth inning, and then scored eight more runs in the top of the fifth inning to keep their winning ways in tact, defeating Hillcrest Thurs., Aug. 14.
The Lady Red Devils tallied eight hits in 27 at-bats, with Brooklynn Darden recording two hits, one single and one double, as Vaeda Kelly recorded a triple, and Oliva Morehead, Jentry Burke, Madalen Stanfield, Lilly Coble, and Aveyanna Johnson each recorded a single.
10 RBIs were also recorded by the Lady Red Devils, as Kelly, Burke, and Darden each had two RBIs, and Morehead, Stanfield, Coble and Aniston Allen each had one RBI.
Emma Hamrick and Johnson each had one stolen base for the Lady Red Devils.
Burke pitched a complete game for the Lady Red Devils, throwing 84 pitches, including 46 strikes, in six innings of action. She also struck out two batters.
