At Fulton Independent students are our focus.

Teachers here have been spending their Monday afternoons participating in embedded professional learning.

One of our focus points has been on increasing student engagement in the classroom.

Teachers are learning to implement total participation techniques that are classroom-tested alternatives to the “stand-and-deliver” teaching methods that cause so many students to tune out.

Teachers report that these techniques motivate students to participate in learning, as they build confidence and are supported by compelling and safe ways to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of lessons.

We are seeing lots of smiles as we enter into classrooms and see our students taking ownership of their learning. Students from Ms. Cierra Cole’s class using “hold ups” to formatively assess their knowledge of “sh” digraph.
